Finding a School That is the Best Fit for You

Deciding on which University to spend the next four years of your life is a hard decision. It is even a harder decision when you have to make that decision from an athletics standpoint. It is very important that when you are choosing a school, you are choosing a school for all the right reasons. You should not choose a school for athletic purposes alone. You may be playing the sport you love, but what if you do not like the school? As an athlete, it is ideal that you find a school that you love from an academics and campus life perspective. Then it is very important that you find a school’s athletic program that you love after you have found the school and campus you like. The only way to figure this out is to go on multiple campus tours to the schools you are considering.

When you are focusing on the athletic program you like the best it is good to ask a variety of questions when you meet with the Coach or Athletic Director. Some basic questions would be: “Will I redshirt”, “How many Players are graduating?’, etc. You need to find out everything you can so you do not find out after it is too late. Some college coaches like to sugar coat things so you do not hear things you do not want to hear. It is important to try to figure out what the coach is being real about, and that can be difficult. Here at Recruit Reels we believe that Academics are a huge piece in the recruiting process and we believe you need to be able to impress a coach on the field and in the classroom.
