Back to School Tips for Athletes
School is about to start and we have some tips for young athletes on how to deal with school and sports. One of the most important things that an athlete must do is get rest. This is crucial to your performance in the classroom and on the field. You should be getting 8-10 hours of sleep as a young high school athlete. It is also very important to stay hydrated during the day especially if your sport is outside. Keep a water bottle in your backpack at school and continue to sip on your water all day. Also, bring snacks to eat before practice. You won’t get a chance to eat for about 7 hours and athletes need food for energy. Throw an apple and/or a power bar in your backpack and eat it before practice. You also need to make sure you are getting your homework and studying done. When you get home from practice you’re going to be tired. If you have a study hall period it would be a good idea to get your work done then so you do not have to worry about it after practice. It is important that you find a schedule that works best for you where you can balance your school, sport, and rest.
