Highlight Video Scholarship in Memory of Riverdale Football Standout to be Provided to Deserving Student Athlete

(Murfreesboro, TN) – Murfreesboro, TN-based, Recruit Reels, Inc., announces the launching of the Mitchell Maxwell Highlight Video Scholarship today. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving high school student-athlete in memory of former Riverdale High School (TN) football standout, Mitchell Maxwell. The highlight video will be provided to a student-athlete to help them pursue their dream of playing their sport at the collegiate level. Maxwell’s tragic passing a few years ago happened just a few weeks before he was to begin fall practice at Mississippi State University as a walk-on Offensive Lineman.

“Mitchell was a fantastic young man with a great future. We were heart-broken and had recently completed his highlight video when we heard the news of his passing. But we’re now hoping to be a part of keeping his memory alive by providing this highlight video scholarship to a young person that has the same dream Mitchell had—to play college sports,” stated Christian Hidalgo, founder of Recruit Reels.

Recruit Reels has been providing professional highlight videos to student-athletes all across the United States for several years and believes the Mitchell Maxwell Highlight Video Scholarship will be just the beginning of providing free highlight videos to deserving high school athletes.

Mitchell’s father, Austin Maxwell, said, “Nothing can replace our son. He loved playing football, his teammates and coaches and he will forever be missed by our family. We look forward to reuniting with him in Heaven someday. But, we’re glad to see the Mitchell Maxwell Highlight Video Scholarship happen and can’t wait to cheer on the high school athlete that receives this award in our son’s name.”

Mitchell Maxwell graduated in 2013 from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, TN where he was a 4-year member of the Warrior football team. During his career at Riverdale, Mitchell received the Most Improved Player his junior year; All Daily News Journal his Junior Year as well as All-District and Warrior Linemen of the Year his senior year.

Some of the volunteer judges that will be determining the winner are Brad Hopkins, former Tennessee Titan All-Pro Offensive Lineman; Danny Brewer, Tennessee Sports Writer; Bob Davis, former TN GOP Chairman; Maurice Patton, Sports Writer and Blogger; Laura Beth Payne, Columnist and Editor; Toby Gilley, Rutherford County General Sessions Judge and Bill Taylor, Former and Nationally Ranked, Professional Kick Boxer.
